Job Description

A Family Law Firm, Inc.: it's our name, it's what we do. We are a small firm in downtown Santa Rosa and have been serving families in Sonoma County for over 29 years. We offer a variety of legal services including mediation and litigation for divorcing or separating families as well as guardianship and step parent adoption. Bret Campoy, Esq. is a Certified Family Law Specialist with over 29 years of experience and Joann Campoy, Esq. is a Certified Family Law Specialist and Certified Mediator with over 27 years of experience. We are looking for a highly organized and dependable Legal Secretary with the opportunity for advancement into a Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal position. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is interested in developing a long-term career in the legal field. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Core Duties:
The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, detail-oriented, personable with clients, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Reliable transportation is required for occasional court runs and other office-related errands.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with scheduling settlement conferences, mediations, and court dates Client contact and phone communications Preparing reminders and maintaining calendars Preparing Schedule of Assets and Debts and Income & Expense Declarations for mediation matters Setting up and maintaining new client files Updating pleadings and records based on signed agreements and court documents Assisting with document production and statement summaries Trial and mediation preparation, including preparing binders and exhibits Court runs and filing assistance Formatting and proofreading legal correspondences and documents Discovery processing, printing, and organization Redacting documents and assisting with financial/bank statement projects Supporting attorneys and legal staff with miscellaneous administrative and litigation projects
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and client service abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments Reliable transportation and valid driver's license Prior office experience preferred; legal experience is a plus but not required Why work for A Family Law Firm?
