Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Public Advocacy Location 701 West Jefferson Street Louisville, KY 40202 USA Description Do you like working with the public? Do you enjoy a fast-paced work environment? Are you a self-motivated, multi-tasking, and detail-oriented team player? If this sounds like you, then you might be the ideal candidate for Legal Secretary at the Louisville Trial Office of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy. In this important role in Kentucky's largest criminal defense firm, you will be acting as both a liaison between attorneys, clients, and other members of the community. You will also be expected to draft and edit a variety of documents, so excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - are a must. Time management skills are also valued as the ideal candidate will be handling multiple time-sensitive tasks for various attorneys, and the ideal candidate will be able to prioritize and complete requested duties independently. Knowledge of programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Court net, and other court related platforms is preferred. Our clients are people not able to afford an attorney who the government has charged with criminal offenses. Compassion for our clients and commitment to our mission are critical characteristics for the successful candidate. A pleasant, outgoing personality both in-person and on the phone are also highly desirable traits for this position. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: File creation. Prepare correspondence. Data entry. Answer phones. Greet clients as needed. Prepare and/or proofread legal documents for staff attorneys. Assist with other clerical tasks. Minimum Requirements
