Legal Secretary -
California Litigation Experience Required Location :
Denver, CO 80202 (Hybrid) Our law firm client, a leading labor and employment law practice, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support its California Litigation Team in the Denver office. Prior California legal litigation support experience is required for this role. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with exceptional organizational skills, advanced document formatting abilities, and extensive experience supporting attorneys in a fast-paced litigation environment. This is a hybrid opportunity, working onsite three days per week and remotely two days per week after the initial 90-day training period. Key Responsibilities Prepare, revise, format, and proofread briefs, pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and other complex legal documents with a high degree of accuracy. File legal documents electronically in California State and Federal Courts using e-filing systems, including PACER, ECF, and applicable California court platforms. Maintain attorney calendars through Outlook and practice management software, including scheduling appointments, tracking litigation deadlines, and managing court dates. Monitor and support docketing functions to ensure compliance with California court deadlines and filing requirements. Maintain organized client and case files utilizing document management and practice management systems. Coordinate travel arrangements, meetings, and conference logistics for assigned attorneys. Accurately enter, review, and revise attorney time entries, including identifying appropriate litigation billing codes. Prepare attorney expense reimbursements and mileage submissions. Review vendor invoices, prepare check requests, and ensure timely submission for payment. Participate in the review and submission of pre-bills and client invoices. Provide professional telephone support for assigned attorneys and assist with receptionist coverage as needed. Consistently proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance before filing or distribution. Requirements California legal litigation support experience is
REQUIRED.
Candidates without California litigation experience will not be considered. High school diploma required; college degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary supporting litigation attorneys. Extensive experience supporting California litigation matters, including knowledge of California court procedures, deadlines, and filing requirements. Experience with State and Federal Court e-filing systems, including PACER, ECF, and California e-filing platforms. Strong knowledge of legal terminology, litigation procedures, court rules, and legal document preparation. Ability to create and format Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities in Microsoft Word. Experience with LexisNexis, PACER, ECF, Milana, Concur, and document management systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), including complex document formatting. Accurate typing speed of 65+ words per minute. Excellent organizational, communication, proofreading, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. #AP123
