Job Description
The Utah Valley University Writing Center is hiring office assistants to help with the daily operations of the Center. Office assistants will be responsible for a variety of support tasks, including handling phone calls and other communications, greeting clients and visitors, updating paperwork and other documents, and performing other general office duties and errands. The Writing Center works with patrons from across campus, so applicants from a range of academic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Greet and connect patrons with Writing Center resources, including writing consultants. Help manage Writing Center daily schedules. Handle daily communication at the Writing Center front desk, including emails, phone calls, and Teams communication. Help troubleshoot technology issues in writing consultations. Attend weekly trainings. Must be a current UVU Student. Able to attend staff education meetings on Mondays from 4 PM until 4:50 PM. Able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, including possible evening and weekend shifts. Comfortable with technology, including Microsoft Suite. Reliable with strong time and task-management skills. Self-motivated, professional, personable, organized, and willing to collaborate with others for the benefit of the Center. Excellent and adaptable communication skills to meet the needs of a variety of patrons. Creative problem solvers who can find new approaches to challenges.
