Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Biller/Collector to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate submission of claims, and pursuing outstanding payments from insurance companies and patients. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management, improve cash flow, and maintain excellent patient and provider relationships. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and possesses a strong understanding of medical coding, billing procedures, and collection strategies. Duties Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision), ICD-10 (Tenth Revision), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to various insurance payers. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and compliance with billing regulations. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly through phone calls, letters, or electronic communication with insurance companies. Collect outstanding balances from patients by explaining billing details clearly and offering payment options. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, adjustments made, and collection efforts in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing questions and ensure accurate documentation for coding purposes. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, insurance policies, and coding standards to ensure compliance. Experience Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding systems including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD
coding standards, and DRG classifications. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and documentation purposes. Experience with medical office procedures and familiarity with insurance claim submission processes. Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers. Pay:
$23.78 - $25.00 per hour
