The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, confidential, and able to manage claims from submission through payment follow-up. Key Responsibilities Submit accurate claims for behavioral health and SUD services. Review documentation to ensure services are billable before claim submission. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits. Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims. Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately. Work with clinical staff to correct billing errors or missing documentation. Maintain billing records in compliance with HIPAA and company policy. Prepare billing reports for leadership as requested. Communicate professionally with insurance companies, Medicaid, MCOs, and internal staff. Protect client financial and medical information at all times. Qualifications Prior medical billing experience required. Behavioral health, SUD, Medicaid, or DC billing experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD10, modifiers, authorizations, and claim denials. Experience with EHR or billing software preferred (Nsync). Strong attention to detail and confidentiality. Ability to follow billing rules, timelines, and supervisor instructions.
