Job Description

This position is not a remote position. This will be an in person position located in Decatur GA. This position must have Athena experience. Please do not apply unless you have experience with Athena EHR. Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes for each case using current generally accepted code structures on a daily basis, according to the cases performed as stated in operative note, or intra operative record. Manages and communicates any patient issues, being the liaison with the patient, billing company (Athena) and clinical team. Enter charges and file electronic claims daily within 48 hours of the date of visit. Confirm appropriate contractual adjustments at the time of billing and collecting. Daily review and correct all electronic billing reports to ensure these claims are filed correctly. Provide all appropriate documentation to third party payors. Review all Medicare cases to assure compliance. Maintain updates and modification of all code books as published. Maintain complete and accurate files on all insurance information and contracts. Communicate current needs and insurance updates to other office or facility personnel to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Be familiar with and follow all billing requirements of local and national payors. Help maintain patient confidentiality standards for both medical and financial information. Maintain updates and modification of all code books as published. Assist with prior authorizations and scheduling Skill in writing policies and procedures Running reports in Athena to confirm missing slips on encounters are within the 7-day period. Running reports in Athena to confirm rejections All other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good knowledge of explanation of benefits. Good knowledge of Medicare reimbursement practices. Good knowledge of Georgia worker comp reimbursement practices. Good knowledge of Personal Injury billing and reimbursement. Excellent attention to detail, detailed working knowledge and demonstrates proficiency in multiple payers' insurance verification. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. Proficient uses of billing systems, as well as word processing applications. Experience using Athena software required Excellent team work attitude and also able to work efficiently individually
