JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the posting of assigned medical practice charges which may include hospital and surgical procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for picking up daily charges if applicable and/or correct electronic charges from the RCx Dashboard. Responsible for Daily Charge Posting. Determines the appropriate
CPT, ICD 10
codes and Modifiers used according to insurance category. Verifies diagnosis code is appropriately linked to procedure. If not appropriately linked to diagnosis, ensures superbill or notification is returned to Manager/Provider for correction. Ensures that all charges, received by paper or electronic, are posted within 24 hours of the date of receipt. Audits all manual charge posting & payments assigned for posting errors and mistakes. Corrects errors and runs the Final Charge & Unassigned Money summary and attaches to batch. Ensures that the total of charges, unassigned money payments and adjustments are posted and applied daily. Ensures all charges are correctly posted by close of month. Responsible for keeping up to date information in regards to coding changes, as provided through internet websites, insurance notifications and newsletters. Informs supervisor of pertinent changes that may affect existing policies and procedures. Position is subject to random audits by Supervisor. Communicates with, and assist physicians and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner. Attends required meetings as requested. Reports to work on a regular and consistent basis.
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent. Prefer additional post secondary course work in medical terminology, anatomy physiology or medical coding classes.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 1 year required in medical office posting experience.
