Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for medical services. This is a vital position that requires strong organizational skills and knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures.Responsibilities:
Review and entry of daily charges, modifiers and services Processing and posting of payments, research and follow up on unresolved payment issues and resubmit claims as necessary Communicate with providers through calls, e-mails and visits to review billing concerns and provide technical support/training Receive and initiate patient calls to resolve billing or payment concerns Research, review and communicate with insurance carriers regarding open accounts receivables Review, research and initiate collection procedures Review and verify patient information, medical records, and insurance eligibility Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, DRG) to diagnoses and procedures Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail Communicate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues and discrepancies Maintain accurate records of all billing activities, including payments, adjustments, and collections Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding and billing practices Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and reimbursement policiesRequirements:
- AAPC Certification-preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or similar role
- Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10), and billing software, Medent experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical collection practices and insurance claim processing
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
