Job Description
This is a part-time opening (25-35 hours per week) with the potential for full-time. We take phone calls from patients M-F 9am-4pm so we are looking for someone to help cover those hours. This job primarily involves answering phone calls from patients who have questions about their medical bill. But first, we have an immediate need to call insurance companies to check the status of or gather or information regarding our claims that we submitted to them. We are a locally owned and operated medical billing company with approximately 60 employees. We have been in business since 1980. Our clients are physicians and physician groups, mostly pathologists and anesthesiologists. We bill patients and the patients' insurance for services received from our clients. In addition to taking patient phone calls, the customer service rep may help with other tasks such as data entry or calling insurance companies or going to their website to find out if a claim has been received or why it has not been paid. Other responsibilities could also include filing appeals, fixing and resubmitting denied claims, working error reports, entering patient demographic and charge data, etc. The customer service rep spends the majority of his or her time working in our billing system. No previous experience is required. We look for candidates who are intelligent, fast learners, and have a strong work ethic and desire to grow and be challenged. Computer skills are a plus. Please note we do not offer medical insurance, but we offer many other typical benefits like Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA, PTO and paid holidays. After months of training there is the potential opportunity to work two days from home per week, assuming you have your own PC and internet access. We allow for flexible schedules. Our office is open M-F from 8am to 5pm so your schedule would have to fit within those parameters.
