Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Coder and Biller to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the process of insurance billing and follow up for the insurance department. Duties Checks to ensure that medical records for patients include all information required for Insurance reimbursement. Verifies correct Insurance coding to ensure prompt payment. Inputs correct billing information and transmit electronically to the Insurance carrier. Consults with claim clerks in the Insurance office about any disputed claims and follows up on all bills not processed within usual claim period. Reviews remittance advice forms to determine any adjustments made to bills as submitted and consults with the Insurance offices. Authorizes or adjusts medical bills to correct errors. Prepares weekly and monthly reports of Insurance billing for the Controller's office. Attends training to keep abreast of changes in Insurance billing procedures and attends annual in-services (fire, safety, and HIPPA compliance.) Balance insurance payments/adjustments to insurance remittance Work on past claims and their status' Reevaluated denied claims from insurance companies for payment Prior Authorizations Check with Insurance companies on claimants' benefits
