Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Dental Biller to manage the billing and coding processes within our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, dental insurance protocols, and coding systems. As a Dental Biller, you will be responsible for accurately submitting claims, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining comprehensive medical records. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth financial operations of our practice while supporting excellent patient care. Duties Prepare and submit dental insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Review patient records and treatment documentation to verify proper coding, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications when applicable. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collections and communication with insurance companies to facilitate prompt reimbursement. Maintain detailed and organized medical billing records within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for audit readiness. Collaborate with dental staff to ensure accurate documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans in accordance with medical terminology standards. Stay current with changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and billing best practices to optimize revenue cycle management. Assist patients with billing inquiries, explaining coverage details, payment options, and insurance benefits clearly and professionally. Ensure compliance with all healthcare privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient medical records. Experience Proven experience in medical or dental billing, with a strong focus on dental insurance claim processing. Familiarity with dental-specific coding systems such as CPT codes related to dental procedures, ICD-9/10 diagnosis codes, and DRG classifications. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems used in dental practices for managing patient records and billing information. Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and oral health procedures. Experience in handling medical collections and managing accounts receivable effectively. Prior work in a fast-paced dental office environment is preferred, demonstrating excellent organizational skills. Basic proficiency in MacPractice billing software is essential for success in this role.
