40.0 Responsibilities Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies. Verify claim accuracy and ensure compliance with payer requirements and healthcare regulations. Review and post insurance and patient payments accurately. Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies. Follow up on outstanding claims to maximize reimbursement and reduce aging accounts receivable. Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and remittance advice to ensure accurate payment processing. Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries and account resolution. Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and account follow-up efforts. Assist patients with questions regarding insurance coverage, balances, and payment options. Stay current on insurance guidelines, billing regulations, and coding updates. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare or billing education preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle, or related experience preferred. Knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance claim processing, and reimbursement practices. Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance plans, and managed care organizations. Understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding is a plus. Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and medical billing software. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
