Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Behavioral Health Medical Biller to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing billing and coding for behavioral health services, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reimbursement. This position plays an important role in supporting efficient revenue cycle management, maintaining accurate patient records, and helping our clinical team focus on delivering quality care. Responsibilities Review and interpret clinical documentation to assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for behavioral health services including ABA therapy and Speech Therapy Prepare and submit clean claims using EMR and EHR systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, working with insurance companies and patients as needed Billing and collection of client service invoices Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all billing information aligns with medical terminology and coding standards Collaborate with clinicians and administrative staff to clarify documentation discrepancies or coding questions Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, ICD coding updates, and insurance policies affecting behavioral health billing practices Generate reports on billing activities, denials, and collections to support revenue cycle analysis and improvement initiatives Requirements Proven experience of at least 2 years in medical billing within a behavioral health or mental health setting is highly preferred Strong knowledge of
ICD-10, CPT
coding, and medical terminology Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing purposes Proficiency in Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) Ability to accurately interpret clinical documentation for proper coding and billing procedures Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim submissions Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and billing data Ability to work independently and manage time to meet deadlines Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to medical coding and billing compliance in the state of Michigan Candidates must be located in southeast Michigan and have the ability to travel to Northville, MI at times.
