Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Biller specializing in Ophthalmology and Optometry to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process for ophthalmic and optometric services, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding accounts. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management, improve cash flow, and enhance patient satisfaction through clear communication and efficient billing practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a specialized medical practice dedicated to eye health. Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding standards specific to ophthalmology and optometry procedures. Review patient medical records to ensure proper documentation aligns with billing requirements and coding accuracy. Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, working closely with insurance companies and patients. Utilize billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to process claims efficiently and maintain comprehensive medical records. Verify patient insurance coverage, explain benefits, and address billing inquiries with excellent customer service skills. Stay updated on healthcare claims management policies, health insurance regulations, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance. Collaborate with medical office staff to streamline billing workflows and improve overall revenue cycle performance. Skills Strong knowledge of medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD
coding systems, and DRG classifications relevant to ophthalmology/optometry procedures. Proficiency in medical billing software, Microsoft Office Suite, and EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and reporting. Experience with healthcare claims management processes, including claim submission, follow-up, appeals, and denials resolution. Excellent understanding of health insurance policies, medical terminology related to eye care, and medical records management. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance providers, and team members. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately while maintaining attention to detail. Familiarity with medical collection procedures and best practices for maximizing revenue recovery.
