Full Job Description Job Overview:
We are seeking a part-time, per diem, detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cardiology medical coding, billing, and terminology and be familiar with Athenahealth EHR.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe
  • Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
  • Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
  • Review accounts for insurance of patient follow-up
  • Research and appeal denied claims
  • Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
  • Payment posting
  • Process insurance correspondence including over and underpayments
  • Triage patient billing calls
Skills:
  • Proficiency in ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
  • Knowledge of medical coding, terminology, and collection practices
  • Experience with DRG systems and medical billing software
  • Strong understanding of medical office procedures and insurance guidelines
  • Ability to work with Athenahealth electronic health record (EHR) systems
