Full Job Description Job Overview:
We are seeking a part-time, per diem, detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cardiology medical coding, billing, and terminology and be familiar with Athenahealth EHR.Responsibilities:
- Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe
- Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
- Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
- Review accounts for insurance of patient follow-up
- Research and appeal denied claims
- Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
- Payment posting
- Process insurance correspondence including over and underpayments
- Triage patient billing calls
Skills:
- Proficiency in ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Knowledge of medical coding, terminology, and collection practices
- Experience with DRG systems and medical billing software
- Strong understanding of medical office procedures and insurance guidelines
- Ability to work with Athenahealth electronic health record (EHR) systems
