• Responsibilities Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes in accordance with medical coding guidelines. Ensure accurate coding for inpatient services, outpatient procedures, and diagnostic tests using EMR/EHR systems. Prepare and submit insurance claims for third-party payers, verifying coverage details and processing health insurance claim submissions efficiently. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures as needed to ensure precise coding. Maintain comprehensive records of coded data, billing information, and correspondence related to revenue cycle management. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to optimize collections. Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, health insurance policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance. Experience Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of ICD-9 (legacy), ICD-10, CPT coding systems, including coding for inpatient services and DRGs. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software platforms. Understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical collection processes. Knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management best practices. Experience working with medical coding guidelines for outpatient and inpatient services is preferred. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently.
