Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pediatric Office Billing and Collections Specialist for a temporary position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical billing and coding within pediatric healthcare settings, with expertise in managing claims, collections, and patient account resolutions. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to efficient revenue cycle management by ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent organizational skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding standards. Responsibilities Review and process pediatric patient claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 to ensure accurate billing. Submit claims electronically through EHR or EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems while verifying all necessary documentation is complete. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, employing effective collection strategies to recover outstanding balances. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments, and collections to support audit readiness and reporting. Communicate professionally with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or inquiries. Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding guidelines and medical billing standards. Assist in updating and maintaining accurate medical records related to billing transactions and collections processes. Requirements Proven experience in medical office billing and collections within a pediatric healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG
classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and documentation purposes. Experience with medical collection procedures, insurance claim submission, and follow-up processes. Understanding of medical records management and the importance of accuracy in coding for reimbursement purposes. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff.
