This role will support in-house billing operations and coordinate with third-party billing partners to ensure accurate claim submissions, proper documentation, and timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate has experience with medical billing processes, insurance verification, and claim follow-up, with strong attention to accuracy and detail. Responsibilities In-House Billing Prepare monthly research invoices by extracting billing information from the laboratory information system (LIS) and/or Excel reports. Apply appropriate billing rates for each test type. Create and issue client invoices through QuickBooks Online (QBO) and email invoices to clients. Manage outstanding in-house accounts receivable by sending statements, following up on unpaid invoices, and assisting with collections efforts. Record and apply client payments accurately once received. Maintain accurate billing records and ensure invoices are complete and properly documented. Third-Party Billing Coordination Work closely with third-party billing companies to ensure complete and accurate information is submitted to insurance carriers. Verify insurance information daily to ensure accurate data entry into LIS systems. Complete verification of benefits and review coverage details as needed. Monitor billing portal and follow up on billing issues requiring additional information or documentation. Review denials to determine whether additional information can be provided to support reimbursement approval. Assist with improving billing accuracy and reimbursement outcomes. Qualifications Previous experience in medical billing, preferably in pathology, laboratory, healthcare, or research billing. Knowledge of insurance verification, benefits, claims processing, and reimbursement workflows. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or missing information. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with QuickBooks Online and general accounting knowledge is a plus. Preferred Experience Certified Medical Biller. ICD-10 and CPT coding. HIPPA compliance. Pathology or laboratory billing experience. Experience working with insurance carriers and third-party billing vendors. Familiarity with healthcare billing documentation requirements and accession workflows.
