The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical billing, including referral authorizations, payment posting, and collections. Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to provide cross-functional support by seamlessly transitioning between roles as needed to ensure efficient office operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide backup support for referral authorizations, general billing duties, and collections. This includes verifying patient eligibility and benefits. Provide backup support to the main Payment Poster. Provide backup support for answering incoming phone calls as needed. Responsible for scanning documents into the EHR system. Responsible for maintaining all assigned work queues. Contribute to maintaining a professional environment by adhering to confidentiality standards and demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
Performance Requirements:
Adhere to company policies and procedures. Knowledge of filing rules and regulations for major insurance carriers/programs. Ability to acquire the skills/functions required to perform the job within an acceptable manner of time (90 days). Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with physicians, advanced practitioners, patients, employees, and outside medical facilities and physician practices. Ability to stay organized, work under pressure, establish priorities, and multi-task. Ability to evaluate and solve problems. Ability to competently operate standard office equipment. Professional written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of computer systems, programs, and applications, including medical software and electronic medical records. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of government regulations and legal requirements related to healthcare (HIPAA/OSHA).
Experience:
Minimum of two years' medical billing work experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting preferred. Bilingual is highly preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment:
Position is in a well-lit office environment. Requires working under stressful conditions and occasional irregular work hours (including evening and weekend hours). Employee is expected to clock in and out each day. A standard workday is 7:30am to 4:45pm (Mon-Thu) and 8:00am to 1:00pm (Fri). Exceptions may apply.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting for extended periods, stooping, bending, and stretching. Occasionally, individuals may need to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing within normal range are required. Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand-eye coordination, are necessary.
