Medical billing and coding communication with insurance companies Medical billing Medical Billing Certification Medical terminology Medical debt collection accounts Patient collections management Full Job Description Seeking an experienced Certified Medical Biller/Collector with the ability to interact effectively with staff, patients, and physician in a fast-paced lymphedema and wound treatment facility.
Responsibilities/Duties not limited to:
  • Review and verify medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assign appropriate medical ICD-10 codes to diagnoses and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Submit clean claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
  • Process payments from insurance companies and patients
  • Maintain patient billing records and update as necessary.
  • Answer inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing issues
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Respond timely to payer denials using insurance appeal policies and specified office policies.
  • Identify denial trends by payer and discuss their trends with management.
  • Attending relevant billing meetings.
Requirements:
  • Coding Certification from the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years billing/insurance collections experience
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10), and medical billing software. Understanding of managed care contracts and prompt pay statutes.
  • Superior communication and customer service skills and be able to work closely with patients and their insurance companies.
  • Able to work accurately from AR or other reports.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision following adequate training.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
  • Efficient follow-up collection on outstanding claims.
  • Knowledge of medical policies for each payer.
