Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process for medical services, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding balances. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management, improve cash flow, and support the overall financial health of our practice. Duties Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes to ensure proper reimbursement. Review patient medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies or issues. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments, adjustments, and collections within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Collaborate with medical staff to clarify billing information and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Assist in medical collections efforts by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances and setting up payment plans when necessary. Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related administrative roles within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for managing medical records and billing processes. Ability to accurately interpret medical records and documentation for proper coding. Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff. Attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously. Knowledge of medical collection procedures and best practices for revenue cycle management.
