Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our dynamic dental practice team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all insurance-related activities, ensuring seamless coordination between patients, insurance providers, and our office staff. Your expertise will help streamline insurance verification, claims processing, and authorization procedures, ultimately enhancing patient satisfaction and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Obtain and process insurance prior authorizations for dental procedures to ensure timely treatment approval. Submit clean claims electronically and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize reimbursement. Maintain comprehensive medical records while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations. Communicate effectively with insurance companies regarding claim status, coverage details, and appeals processes. Assist patients with understanding their dental insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs. Keep up-to-date with changes in health insurance policies, managed care requirements, and medical billing best practices. Qualifications Proven experience in a dental office or medical office setting with knowledge of dental insurance processes. Strong understanding of health insurance policies, managed care procedures, and medical billing practices. Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and ICD coding standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/Electronic Health Records (EHR) management systems. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients and insurance representatives. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies such as HIPAA to protect patient information at all times. Experience with insurance verification, prior authorization processes, and medical records management is highly preferred. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
