RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet and assist patients, clients, and staff in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner. Handle client scheduling, registration, and insurance pre-authorization in hospital systems. Communicate with patients and insurance companies by phone, in person, and in writing. Clean, organize, and maintain therapy equipment and manage inventory and supplies. Support therapists with delegated patient care duties and maintain accurate patient records.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required; 2-3 years of experience in computerized patient accounts or administrative assistant roles preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications; strong typing and data entry skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Professional appearance and courteous, respectful demeanor toward clients, staff, and patients. Ability to learn and follow departmental procedures and contribute positively to the team environment. Comfortable supporting both administrative and light clinical tasks under direction.
Physical Requirement:
Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, sit for prolonged periods, and lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
ENVIRONMENT
The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The Rehabilitation Department operates both within the hospital and at an offsite location. The work environment is clean, pleasant, and team-oriented, with moderate physical demands. Job hazards may include exposure to infectious diseases, psychological strain, and minor physical exertion such as lifting or extended standing.
