Job Description

This position is responsible for performing clerical and customer service duties in support of department motor vehicle transactions. Employees assigned ERT duties will be given a one-step increase. Processes title paperwork for new vehicles; collects fees, issues plates, and enters data into computer. Processes in-transit transfers; prepares paperwork for receiving state. Assists dealerships and customers in the completion of title transfers in compliance with federal and state regulations. Processes renewals; verifies current address. Processes lien releases; ensures the accuracy and completeness of all related paperwork. Processes electronic title transfers and related funding. Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance. Receives and processes mail, including mail-in renewals and dealership correspondence. Assists customers in appointment on Qmatic system and properly calls from Qmatic system to ensure an orderly flow of traffic. Performs related duties.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent. One to two years of work related experience in customer service and an office setting.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Knowledge of motor vehicle laws and regulations, including the legal requirements of ownership and title documentation requirements as they relate to trusts, deaths and any other legal area. Knowledge of motor vehicle laws, regulations and procedures for all states. Skill in prioritizing and organizing work. Skill in the provision of customer services. Skill in the maintenance of files and records. Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier. Skill in oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and must distinguish between shades of color. The work is typically performed in an office.
