Job Description

Assistant Corporation Counsel - Under the general direction and supervision of the Corporation Counsel or designee, the Assistant Corporation Counsel provides specialized legal and administrative support with a primary focus on contract review, negotiation, and compliance. Serves as the primary legal resource for contract development and compliance matters. This position also advises City staff on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and related transparency obligations, while assisting with other municipal legal matters. Assignment and request for services are received from the Corporation Counsel, the City Manager, Department Heads, the City Council and Mayor. Associate Corporation Counsel - The Associate Corporation Counsel (Land Use and Licensing) is a senior-level legal position responsible for providing legal representation and counsel to the City under the direction of the Corporation Counsel. This position focuses primarily on matters involving zoning, land use, planning, licensing, and municipal governance. This position advises elected and appointed officials, boards and commissions, and municipal departments on a broad range of regulatory and administrative matters, with a primary focus on land use and development and licensing matters, and may also represent the municipality in administrative proceedings, litigation support, ordinance drafting, and enforcement actions. The City is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative attorney to serve as either Assistant Corporation Counsel or Associate Corporation Counsel, depending on qualifications and experience.
