Job Description

Position Summary Our growing pediatric dental practice is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented OR/Anesthesia Coordinator to manage and coordinate all aspects of dental procedures requiring sedation or general anesthesia. This role serves as the primary liaison between patients' families, providers, surgical facilities, and insurance companies to ensure a seamless and positive experience for our pediatric and special needs patients. Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and passionate about helping children receive the dental care they need. They are comfortable guiding families through the surgical process, coordinating complex schedules, discussing financial amounts, payment plan options, and ensuring every patient receives outstanding care and attention.
Compensation:
$23 - $28 hourly
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule dental procedures requiring sedation or general anesthesia. Communicate with parents and guardians regarding treatment plans, pre-operative instructions, and post-operative expectations. Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and assist families with financial arrangements. Maintain communication with in-office anesthesiologists and ambulatory surgery centers. Prepare and organize patient records, treatment plans, medical histories, and surgical documentation. Ensure all required consents, forms, and clearances are completed prior to procedures. Monitor surgery schedules, daily updating of patient tracker, and also manage any changes, cancellations, or rescheduling needs. Follow up with families before and after procedures to answer questions and provide support. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and office protocols. Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members to provide exceptional patient care.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a dental, medical, or healthcare coordination role preferred. Knowledge of dental insurance, treatment planning, and prior authorization processes. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with children and families in a compassionate and professional manner. Proficiency with dental practice management software and electronic health records. High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Versed in how to use Teams or Calendly for virtual consultations Willingness to work out of both office locations if needed Flexibility with work schedule to accommodate patient needs Preferred Qualifications Experience in pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, or anesthesia scheduling. Familiarity with hospital or outpatient surgery center coordination.
