Job Summary:
The Ward Clerk/Nursing Attendant supports quality patient care in an emergency care setting by providing essential clerical services and direct patient support, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This dual role manages patient records, handles inventory, and facilitates communication among healthcare providers. You will be responsible for coordinating work between departments, implementing specific procedures and programs, and assisting the supervisor with departmental operations. The role requires flexibility, as you may be asked to float to other departments based on operational needs.Qualifications:
Education & Skills:
High School graduate or equivalent and proficient computer skills are required. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Ability to perform order transcription and manage patient records. Ability to provide assistance with reception/clerical duties. Proficient communication skills and the ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities. Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.Experience & Certifications:
BLS certification required. A minimum of six months prior nursing assistant experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.Patient Care & Safety:
Ability to acknowledge changes in a patient's condition or behavior and promptly report these to appropriate licensed nursing personnel. Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security. Knowledge of providing individualized attention and patient care through assisting with daily routine activities. Ability to lift, move, and transport patients safely. Knowledge of providing care which maintains patient's skin integrity. Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.Compliance:
