Job Description

Assistant Prosecutor The Criminal Division of the City of Cleveland's Law Department is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, ethical attorney to serve as a full-time Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. The City of Cleveland Prosecutor's Office offers broad exposure to the legal profession in an environment widely renowned for its challenge, excellence, creativity, integrity, decency and public service. The incumbent will prosecute misdemeanor violations of Cleveland Codified Ordinances and the Ohio Revised Code in the Cleveland Municipal Court, Ohio 8th District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court. These misdemeanors include, but not limited to, traffic violations, assault, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, and theft. Prosecutors will be tasked with reviewing police reports for the determination of criminal charges and drafting of those charges. Prosecutors are also tasked with reviewing Cleveland police reports for referral of matters to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office for felony charges. The ideal candidate will be hard-working, proficient, and able to work well as a team member in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a collaborative, problem solving mindset.
