Job Description

Internship Overview:
The Student Intern/Aide provides technical, clerical and administrative support to the Judge, the Personal Bailiff and Court staff.
Job Title:
Housing Court Student Intern/Aide Report To:
Housing Court Judge and Supervisors Job Specifications:
Performs various clerical and related support for the staff of the Court; Assists with data entry to create or update existing records, filing, copying, scanning, sorting and compiling of various projects; Retrieves case files as requested; Answers the telephone at the front desk including general phone/office coverage during staff meetings; Assists during community events and performs other duties as assigned. The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned this classification. It is not an exhaustive list of all job duties performed.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in neighborhood or agency meetings and explain the workings and proceedings of the Housing Court. Ability to operate and understand the court computer system.
Education:
High school diploma preferred.
Experience:
Experience in organizing information and records required. Experience in court systems, court scheduling preferred.
Skills:
Ability to work independently and manage and prioritize multiple tasks is required. Knowledge of computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. Experience with other software programs, such as Publisher is preferred. Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment, clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping as well as principles and practices of basic office management.
Other related details:
The student will need great creativity, a strong compassion for others, have excellent communication skills and demonstrate critical thinking.
