Collections Counselor (Criminal Court Clerk) Shelby County Government - 3.6 Memphis, TN Job Details Full-time 14 hours ago Qualifications Statistics Some college Record keeping Workflow management (operations management method) Mid-level Debt collection payment plan Data entry 1 year Grammar Experience Full Job Description Position Summary Prepares payment plans provides information support and counseling to defendants, prepares reports evaluations and documents on defendants and their cases.
Pay Grade:
41 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications One (1) year experience in data processing or statistical experience, or related field; AND Two (2) years of college study (60 semester hours or 72 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university.
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities Assists defendant with proper identification information required and proper forms to be completed. Informs defendant of the cost and guidelines of the case on the Agreement of Understanding. Updates other cases and aids in a payment plan. Informs defendant of fines and costs that must be paid by the final date granted by the Divisional Judge. Processes intake data for cases in financial system, enters the disposition of the defendant case which includes docket number. Reviews new disposition when defendant has failed to successfully complete the diversion probation, adjusts court cost and probation when needed. Interviews defendant on payment of cost and fine for violation of probation. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSAs Knowledge of laws, ordinances, rules and regulations affecting the record keeping operations of a department and skill in applying them. Ability to plan, organize and maintain an even flow of work. Ability to maintain continuous mental alertness and reasoning ability. Ability to spell, punctuate and use grammar correctly. Ability to work courteously with public citizens and to resolve problematic situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Shelby County Resident Disclaimer All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment. The residency requirement shall not apply to certain public safety/civil service employees. This means exemption from this policy is in effect for the following departments and positions: (1) Sheriff Deputy Patrol Officers, Deputy Jailers and Dispatchers, employed by the Sheriff Department, (2) Correction Officers employed by the Division of Corrections, (3) Firefighters, Paramedics and Dispatchers employed by the Shelby County Fire Department. The residency exemption for public safety/civil service employees does not include Appointed positions with Sheriff's Office, Division of Corrections or the Fire Department.
