Job Description
The Washington County
- Justice Court, Precinct One Office is seeking applicants for the position of part-time Justice Court Clerk for the Brenham, Texas office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry Valid Texas Driver's License Must be able to pass drug test and background check. Notary PublicPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master Court Clerk Justice of the Peace Court Personnel Professional Certification Level One Court certification Justice of the Peace Court Clerk Certification a variety of tasks with attention detail and respectfully interact with the general public.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Justice Court Clerk must be able to perform the following essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. The job and these duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive of the those necessary to perform this job. As an employee of Washington County, it shall be my duty to: Reception- the CCC is the principal receptionist for the office, not only answering the phones, but handling defendants at the lobby window.
- Civil & Criminal
- Responsible for the receiving and recording of ALL correspondence with the court. The mail must be inspected, opened date stamped, recorded in the mail log, determine the purpose of the correspondence and proper file all items following the Courts procedures. Data Entry Specialist
- The Chief Court Clerk is responsible for the entry of each case filed in person or through the EFILE system, including verifying the correct filing fees, in the Justice of the Peace Office whether it is Civil or Criminal, Magistration, Inquest, Property, Administrative hearings, etc. Must enter all of those documents, payments and any correspondence regarding each case. - The Chief Court Clerk is responsible for the issuance of all Court warrants including misdemeanor and felony warrants and maintain the records for those warrants, making sure that those warrants are issued to the proper law enforcement entity.
- The Chief Court Clerk is responsible for the receipt and execution of hot check writers as filed with the Court.
- Responsible for all the correspondence issued by the Court to Attorneys, Defendants or other applicants and higher courts, either by phone, email, U.
