Job Description

Position Overview:
The Mental Health Clerk is responsible for handling and filing all paperwork regarding mental health for the Harris County Clerk's Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Answers phones regarding mental health and warrant information. Enters patient and applicant information into the computer. Proofs all paperwork before it is filed. Prepares dockets for court. Attends all court hearings for Probable Cause, Commitment and Chemical Dependency. Keeps a log of all warrants filed with the clerk's office. Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Probate. Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution and Minimum of one (1) year of paid clerical work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to type 35 words per minute, with 80% accuracy and 85% accuracy on a clerical skills test. Basic proficiency skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Must be detail oriented. Must have good prioritization and organizational skills. Ability to work as a team player and work well with others. Ability to work overtime without prior notification and work flexible hours as required. Ability to handle multiple phone lines and multi task. Ability to display Compassion and understanding.
