Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
An individual in this position is responsible for maintaining all court records, assisting the Judge and Prosecutor, assisting customers on the telephone and in person at the cashier's window.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists in achieving court objectives. Participates in all phases of the Court's clerical, legal, and cashiering activities as required. Assists with coordinating the Court's docket and ensure that the necessary processes and paperwork of the Court are issued, signed and approved. Types and mails standard correspondence letters as needed. Attends assigned Court sessions. Assists with records management, including the filing, scanning, and maintenance of court records. Keeps the Municipal Court Administrator informed of all problems and important issues. Trains new employees. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years Municipal or County Court experience preferred. Must be fluent in office software (Municipal Justice VX) and computer hardware. Knowledge of court operations, policies and procedures preferred. Level I Court Clerk Certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of court operations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of the practices and principals of municipal government, public relations methods and techniques, and effective communication practices. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures. Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing. Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job. Skill in effective time management and resource utilization. Skill in mathematical computations and tabulations. Skill in organization. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to research, compile and summarize a variety of information and statistical data. Ability to work effectively with employees, management and citizens.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary to light work which requires exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds of records in boxes. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a normal office environment with everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
