Job Description

As a Court Clerk II, you'll play an essential role in supporting the justice system by helping court proceedings run smoothly, maintaining official court records, and serving as a key resource for judges, attorneys, justice partners, and the public. Every day brings something different—and your work directly contributes to the fair and efficient administration of justice in Sheboygan County. The Court Clerk II performs advanced courtroom and case-processing work in support of Circuit Court and Clerk of Courts operations. This position is responsible for electronically recording court proceedings, processing legal case activity, preparing court orders and official documents, and maintaining accurate court records across a variety of case types. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to confidently manage multiple priorities in a dynamic courtroom environment. Duties include but are not limited to: Electronically record court proceedings in real time using CCAP Assist judges during hearings and trials, including administering oaths and marking exhibits Process case dispositions and prepare court orders, notices, judgments, and related legal documents Review, process, scan, and route electronic and paper court filings Schedule hearings and maintain court calendars in compliance with statutory timelines Maintain accurate court records, case information, and document indexing within CCAP Coordinate interpreter services and maintain related records Respond to procedural inquiries from attorneys, justice partners, self-represented litigants, and the public Assist with appellate files, jury-related duties, records requests, and required tracking logs Maintain confidentiality of sealed and sensitive records Perform other related duties as assigned High School Diploma or equivalent required Two (2) years of clerical, administrative, legal support, court operations, or records management experience required Court, legal, governmental, or public-sector experience preferred Experience using CCAP or similar case management systems preferred Work is performed primarily in a courtroom and office environment with frequent public interaction. Frequent computer use and detailed data entry Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds Fast-paced environment with interruptions and deadlines Requires professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail at all times
