Job Description

The City of Chandler Police Department, Police Detention Unit is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Detention Supervisor . This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The Police Detention Unit is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This position is required to work various schedules to include days, swing-shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position subject to a six (6) month probationary period. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; and is competently able to do the following: Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, manages schedules and work priorities, monitors and evaluates performance, facilitates access to resources and training, provides guidance and addresses issues, conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions. Performs the duties of a Detention Officer. Develops unit policies and procedures. Oversees the general care and custody of arrestees and detainees. Conducts holding facility inspections. Must have 4-years' experience as a detention officer, or a related role or position; and Must possess a DPS Terminal Operator Level B upon hire; and Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work may be substituted for the required years of experience. Desired qualifications Current City of Chandler, Police Detention Unit employees. Supervision Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Police Lieutenant. This position exercises supervision over detention center personnel. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 6 months should another position become available.
