Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Business Office Manager to lead our dealership's financial operations and administrative functions. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and team management within the automotive retail environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in financial concepts, regulatory standards, and accounting systems to ensure the smooth and compliant operation of the business office. Your leadership will drive efficiency, accuracy, and integrity across all financial activities, supporting the dealership's growth and customer satisfaction. Duties Manage and oversee all accounting functions including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance Lead the financial close process, preparing detailed financial reports, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with regulatory requirements. Conduct cost accounting analysis to monitor expenses, optimize budgeting processes, and support forecasting activities for improved financial performance. Manage internal controls related to financial software systems, ensuring data integrity through double entry bookkeeping, account analysis, and account reconciliation procedures. Supervise and develop the finance team responsible for accounting operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Oversee treasury management tasks including cash management strategies and banking relationships to maintain liquidity and optimize funds utilization. Ensure timely regulatory reporting and compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. Utilize spreadsheets and Excel data analysis tools for detailed financial analysis, budgeting support, and strategic decision-making. Implement best practices in financial software usage to streamline processes such as general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and audit preparation. Skills Extensive knowledge of Title/ DMV, Wholesales, AP/AR, and warranty process. Proficiency in financial software systems including platforms specific to automotive or general industry use Strong expertise in cash management, accounts payable/receivable processing, and payroll administration. Advanced skills in spreadsheets (Excel), data analysis techniques, financial report writing, and forecasting methods. Demonstrated ability managing accounting teams with leadership qualities that motivate productivity and accuracy. Experience with cost accounting analysis, regulatory compliance accounting, international accounting standards, and public or corporate accounting environments. Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation processes, and general ledger management with precision. Knowledge of technical accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, financial close processing, and account analysis. Strong understanding of finance team management principles including budgeting strategies and financial management best practices.
