Job Description

Background Earles Engineering & Inspection (EEI)—a Pittsburg, KS-based firm delivering civil, structural, environmental, inspection, and surveying services across Kansas, Texas, and the Oklahoma Panhandle—has a 30-year record of partnering with municipalities, state agencies, and private developers on water, wastewater, and land-development projects. Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Office Manager/Bookkeeper to oversee day-to-day office operations and own the company's bookkeeping and financial processes. This is a hands-on, high-trust role where you'll work closely with leadership to manage invoicing, payroll, and reporting while keeping the business organized and running efficiently. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, small business environment. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle bookkeeping (QuickBooks or similar) Handle AR/AP, invoicing, collections, and vendor payments Perform bank/credit card reconciliations and maintain clean records Process payroll and support basic HR/benefits administration Prepare monthly reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Support billing, job tracking, and project documentation Oversee office operations, communications, and organization Qualifications 5+ years in bookkeeping, office management, or small business finance Strong QuickBooks (or similar) experience Experience with AR/AP, payroll, and reconciliations Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently Strong communication and professionalism
Preferred:
Construction, engineering, or project-based business experience Job costing, progress billing, or contract/admin exposure
