Job Description

Full-Charge Bookkeeper & Office Administrator Acadia Contractors Full-time, on-site
Pay:
$60,000—$70,000 per year Acadia Contractors is looking for an experienced full-charge bookkeeper to own the financial and administrative backbone of our office. This is a hands-on role for someone who can run the complete books cycle on their own — AP, AR, payroll entry, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close in line with GAAP — without needing day-to-day oversight. You'll also keep the front office running: handling customer inquiries, entering leads, and keeping records organized. We're hiring for the long term. We want one steady, capable person to make this role their own. We're also modernizing — transitioning our accounting into a custom ERP system — so you'll help shape how we work, not just inherit it. If you take pride in accurate, organized work and want a place where you'll be trusted to run things, read on. What You'll Do
  • Full-Cycle Bookkeeping — manage the complete books cycle in our accounting system, including accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
  • Reconciliations — perform bank, account, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations to keep financial statements accurate.
  • Journal Entries & GAAP — prepare and record journal entries and double-entry transactions in accordance with GAAP, and analyze general ledger accounts.
  • Payroll Entry — collect and enter hours, prepare payroll for processing, and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Reporting — maintain organized financial records and prepare reports, including WIP (work-in-progress) schedules and the year-end package handed off to our CPA.
  • Lead Entry & Front Office — enter incoming leads, manage correspondence and scheduling, keep supplies stocked, and handle customer inquiries. What We're Looking For
  • Several years of full-charge bookkeeping or AP/AR experience — you've owned a company's books before, start to finish.
  • Solid grasp of GAAP and core accounting — debits and credits, journal entries, account analysis, and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Skilled in bank, account, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar) and the adaptability to learn a new platform — we're moving onto Acumatica.
  • Accounts payable/receivable and payroll entry experience, with discretion handling sensitive financial and employee data.
  • Accurate data entry and 10-key, with sharp attention to detail and a track record of accuracy.
  • Reliable and self-directed — you stay on top of recurring deadlines without being chased, and you're looking for a long-term home. Nice to Have
  • Experience in construction, contracting, or the trades.
  • Familiarity with job costing or progress/AIA-style billing and WIP reporting.
  • Experience with Acumatica or another full ERP/accounting platform.
Why Join Us You'll be the person who keeps our office and finances running, with the autonomy to own it and the support to do it well. We're a small, busy team where good work is noticed and trusted. How to Apply In your application, briefly tell us: (1) the accounting systems you've worked in, and (2) the bookkeeping role you've held longest and why. We read these. Acadia Contractors is an equal opportunity employer.
