Full-Time The Gravois Arm Sewer District is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Office Manager to oversee the daily financial and administrative operations of the district. This position requires a self-motivated professional with exceptional accounting, bookkeeping, and customer service skills who can work independently while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality. Position Summary The Bookkeeper/Office Manager is responsible for managing all financial records, customer billing, collections, payroll, reporting, and office administration. This individual will work closely with the district's CPA, district attorney, and Board of Directors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all applicable regulations. Primary Responsibilities Manage all daily bookkeeping functions using QuickBooks Prepare and process customer billing and receive payments Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records Process Intuit QuickBooks payroll and payroll tax reporting Prepare monthly financial statements, including: Profit & Loss Statements Balance Sheets Budget Reports Cash Flow Reports Monitor and balance the district's budget Coordinate with the District's CPA for year-end financial reporting Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Perform collections professionally and courteously Track utility revenues and expenses Assist with securing Certificates of Deposit (CDs), bonds, and other financial instruments as directed Maintain records required for audits and regulatory compliance File liens with Morgan County Recorders Office Prepare packets requested by the Board Members Attend one evening Board Meeting each month Record accurate meeting minutes and distribute them as required Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems Perform general office management duties Provide excellent customer service to district residents and vendors Qualifications Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (preferred) Proficiency in QuickBooks Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office Experience with payroll processing Experience performing bank reconciliations Thorough understanding of: Profit & Loss Statements Balance Sheets Budgeting Financial reporting Attend monthly board meetings and keep minutes of meetings Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professional customer service skills Experience handling collections in a courteous and professional manner Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field Experience working with municipal utilities, sewer districts, water districts, or governmental entities is highly desirable Experience working with auditors, CPAs, and governing boards is a plus Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be dependable, ethical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing the district's financial operations with minimal supervision. They will be comfortable interacting with the public, Board Members, CPA, vendors, and utility customers while maintaining professionalism at all times.
