Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and organized office administrator/receptionist to join our team! This vital role combines front desk responsibilities with office management duties, ensuring smooth daily operations and congregational outreach. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills to create a welcoming environment for visitors and congregants alike Your team-oriented approach will help maintain an efficient office atmosphere while supporting the missions of the Unitarian Universalist Church, the minister, and the Director of Religious Education. Duties Greet visitors and congregants warmly, providing exceptional service and guiding them appropriately while keeping regular office hours 3 days a week for three hours a day, with one hour to assist with open and other events as needed. Manage the phone, screen calls, and direct inquiries efficiently using professional phone etiquette Handle front desk operations, including scheduling appointmentsfor the minister and DRE. Utilize or be willing to learn productivity software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) to prepare documents, spreadsheets, and correspondence, Canva Business, and Squarespace website administration Perform data entry accurately in systems such as QuickBooks for financial recordkeeping and iBreeze Church software. Maintain organized filing systems—both electronic and paper—to ensure easy retrieval of documents and records Support office management activities, including calendar management, supply ordering, and general administrative support to the minister and the Director of Religious Education. Qualifications Proven experience in office administration or clerical roles with a strong background in customer support and front desk duties Excellent computer literacy and technical proficiency Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is highly desirable Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a liberal church environment Strong communication skills—bilingual abilities are a plus—and the ability to handle phone communication professionally Demonstrated attention to detail in proofreading, data entry, and document management Previous experience working with or a willingness to learn Google, Squarespace, Canva, filing, and calendar management tools Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism Join us in creating an inviting church environment.
