Job Description The Legal Assistant serves as an important member of our team and plays an integral role in our day-to-day operations. This position performs a wide range of administrative and legal support duties while working closely with attorneys and paralegals to keep cases organized, deadlines on track, and clients well supported.
  • Answer and manage inbound phone calls and direct calls to the appropriate team member
  • Greet clients and visitors and provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service
  • Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and opposing counsel's staff
  • Gather information and assist with new client intakes
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate attorney calendars
  • Coordinate document intake
  • Respond to requests for information and data
  • Perform general clerical duties, including scanning, photocopying, faxing, and mailing
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems in a near-paperless environment
  • Save emails and other documents to case management software
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with various legal duties and projects, including drafting minor pleadings and e-filing pleadings
  • Prepare hearing and trial notebooks
  • Perform data entry
  • Learn and utilize legal technology and case management systems
  • Work closely with attorneys and support staff to maintain a high level of work quality while meeting deadlines
  • Participate in team problem-solving
  • Perform other duties and projects as needed based on the needs of the firm Required Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of office, administrative, or related experience
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer and technical skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software and troubleshoot problems that may arise
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to ask questions when necessary Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of legal office experience
  • Experience in family law is highly valued, but not required
  • Paralegal certificate is preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor's or associate degree is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with legal case management software and/or electronic filing systems
  • Experience working in a professional services or client-facing environment What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and team-oriented, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to take ownership of their work.

Work Environment This is a full-time, in-office position based at our Mountlake Terrace, Washington office. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys a combination of independence and teamwork. Because our team works across different locations, there will be times when you are the only team member physically working in the office, so comfort working independently and taking initiative is important. We stay closely connected throughout the day through Teams, phone, email, and regular communication.
