Position Location:
Montgomery, AL The Special Education Services (SES) Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) is seeking to fill one (1) Clerk position. Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following: Answers and routes incoming phone calls, screening and taking messages as necessary. Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail and correspondence. Prepares outgoing mail, packages, and associated mailing slips. Performs accurate data entry and other routine clerical tasks. Verifies, logs, and audits data, tracking down and obtaining any missing information. Copies, sorts, collates, and prepares physical materials. Maintains files and records in compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or a GED certificate.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
Reliable, collaborative, flexible, and able to solve problems effectively. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail. Knowledge of basic office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimal supervision and seek clarification when needed. Proficiency with basic office software, including time and attendance tracking platforms.
