Job Description

The purpose of this position is to accurately enter information into various databases of the Sheriff's Office in accordance with all State and Federal laws, County and internal policies and procedures. Within a secure detention facility this position conducts booking of inmates and processes authorized release of detainees. This position also performs administrative clerical duties, compiles jail related statistics and reports and orders supplies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise other employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TIME SPENT
Conducts booking of inmates, accurately completing required forms; collects and inventories inmate property and maintains inmate property, financial and corrections records. Processes authorized release of detainees; notifies victims; verifies documentation for completeness and accuracy before releasing inmates and files and distributes records to appropriate divisions within County. 40% Updates and maintains a variety of files, records, event logs, charts and other documents; maintains appropriate records and prepares reports, including compiling jail related statistical information, as required. Performs administrative clerical duties including monitoring inventory and ordering of supplies. 40% Performs court order and employment fingerprinting. 10% Processes bail and bond money payments. 10% Performs other duties as assigned.

Interacts extensively with employees, customers, the general public, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other groups and/or individuals and Institutions over the telephone, by email, and/or in person.
INTERACTIONS SPECIFICALLY WITH CUSTOMERS
Continuously (More than 70% but less than 85% in a year)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED, and one (1) year relevant experience ; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstates the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasionally stands to attend to customers. Occasionally sits to operate special equipment and to complete a program. May be required to lift work related materials or equipment up to 10 lbs. Constantly requires dexterity for keyboard operation; rarely for special gadgets and special machines. Constantly bends, stoops and twists to reach and grab work-related materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Incumbents in this position generally work in an office environment, occasionally spends time in lobby environment and classroom(s).
SAFETY RISK EXPOSURE
Incumbents in this position may become exposed to telephone verbal abuse by customers or citizens; may become exposed to individuals with high levels of emotional distress.
PROTECTIVE GEAR & SAFETY MANUALS
Incumbents in this position are required to constantly follow written safety procedures and manuals relevant to the division or department.
CONSEQUENCES OF ERROR
Potential errors can cause inconveniences to other employees, and/or delays in related work areas. Delays of services are possible.
SECURITY REQUIRMENTS
Incumbents in this position are required to be U.S citizens with zero felony convictions. Must obtain a Driver's License. Prior to being hired, all incumbents in this position are subject to a background check, as well as a written and oral examinations.
