SUMMARY:
Under basic supervision, identifies the language level and needs of students through the administration of exams. Reviews exam scores and assists in placement of students in classes and individual learning programs to ensure successful interpretation and understanding of the English language.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Identifies new enrollees' language proficiency level. Tests all selected students. Populates the test booklets with student information and pre-registers each assessing student. Works collaboratively and collectively to administer Arizona English language learner assessment (AZELLA) examinations at various schools. Inputs all student responses and scores into computer system. Generates state mandated documents to meet compliance deadlines. Supports the development of and maintains individual learning plans (ILLP). Obtains signatures and meets with all parties involved. Attends parent meetings as needed. Creates parent withdrawal documentations as needed. Prepares, maintains, updates, and submits all student SEI files, test scores, and spreadsheets. Maintains internal file and database. Organizes test materials and works with District Assessment Office to schedule test dates and locations. Proctors exams as needed. Administers or supervises the oral portion of the AZELLA exam. Takes inventory of test materials and forecasts the necessary supply for the following school year. Completes other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Completes Arizona English Language Learners Assessment training annually. Test administration directions, policies, and procedures. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
Required Knowledge of:
Practices and methods of assessing language competency and learning ability of students. District student management systems. Principles and procedures of recordkeeping, reporting, and retention. District, School Board and Department policies and procedures. Required Skills in: Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely. Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment. Assessing, prioritizing and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously. Proficient bilingual communication skills. Accessing and interpreting student test data. Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
