Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of School Support Services, the Special Education Program Administrator plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises special education programs and services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Administrator supports instructional programs, facilitates student success, collaborates with school personnel and families, and promotes inclusive educational practices for students with disabilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee assigned special education programs and related services districtwide.
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, SELPA requirements, California Education Code, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide leadership and support to principals, teachers, related service providers, and classified staff regarding special education programs and procedures.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, mediations, and resolution sessions as needed.
  • Monitor student placement, services, and progress to ensure students receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE).
  • Collaborate with general education and special education staff to support inclusive practices and student achievement.
  • Assist in the recruitment, supervision, support, and evaluation of certificated and classified special education staff.
  • Analyze student data, program effectiveness, and compliance indicators to support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate staff development and professional learning opportunities related to special education.
