Job Description

We're looking for the right person to join our Strength Code team and grow with us! We are a small, close-knit team of career trainers, some of whom have been in the biz for 15+ years. If you want to learn from seasoned colleagues and grow your training experience into a lifelong career, this is the place for you! The Personal Trainer/Studio Assistant role is an entry point into the world of boutique fitness, and ultimately provides many opportunities for growth and expansion. This role encompasses both administrative and personal training responsibilities, and we are seeking a candidate with experience and interest in both areas. This position is a vital component of the success of the studio and the wellbeing of clients and staff, and contributes to the studio's sales and attendance goals by providing caring, conscientious customer service, administrative support, and impeccable client training. If selected, you will start in the administrative role. After a brief onboarding period, you'll be able to start certification training in our strength training method. Once that training is complete, you will have the opportunity to step in as a substitute trainer for our group classes and 1:1 sessions, then eventually acquire 1:1 clients of your own. How quickly you progress through this process is all up to your availability and comfort level. You may transition into a full-time trainer role as you acquire clients. About Strength Code We are a boutique fitness studio on the border of Burbank and Toluca Lake. Our specialized strength training method uses scientifically backed slow motion high-intensity resistance training techniques in 30-minute sessions for a workout that is quick, safe, and effective. Hourly Rate (includes administrative work and certification training): $18-20/hour
Personal Training Rate:
Starts at $20 per 30-minute session (once certified) You'll also receive an additional $10 of compensation (on top of your hourly rate) for each CAROL Bike demo and Body Composition Test that you complete during your hours. (You will be trained on our machines and protocols.)
Hours:
10-15 hours per week to start, potential to grow to 20-30 hours per week
Necessary Skills and Experience:
NASM, ISSA, ACE or other nationally-recognized personal trainer certification. 2-3 years of experience training fitness clients in a 1:1 setting is required. Experience with or certification in High Intensity Resistance Training and/or the Super Slow technique is preferred. 1+ years of experience in a front desk or similar administrative role is preferred.
Exceptional Customer Service:
Skills in providing top-tier customer service across various communication channels (phone, email, text, in person).
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively engaging potential and existing clients.
Client Relationship Management:
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, encouraging loyalty and repeat business.
Problem-Solving:
Ability to quickly and effectively resolve client inquiries and issues, and understand when to escalate to a supervisor. Self-directed and solution-oriented.
Sales Proficiency:
Sales skills, including persuading and closing deals, particularly for membership sign-ups and upgrades. Experience using a POS system is a plus.
Software Proficiency:
Experience with scheduling and CRM software, preferably Mindbody or similar wellness-oriented platform. Familiarity with Canva, Constant Contact, Trello, lead management software, and Google Drive/Docs (or similar programs) is a plus. Must be able to speak and write in English. Must be able to see, hear and navigate a studio environment.
Personal Trainer Responsibilities Include:
Planning, preparing and delivering client sessions that are safe, effective and applicable to the client in attendance. A professional approach to client session management including intake, programming, scheduling, payments, service, and safety. Engage clients and create healthy relationships Maintain an accurate schedule, client accounts, appointments, and availability in Mindbody scheduling software. Knowledgeable of new and ongoing services, pricing, sales and cross-promotions at The Strength Code Take responsible action to facilitate client progression. This may include touch with permission.
Studio Assistant Responsibilities Include:
Customer Service and Communication Assist clients with scheduling, cancelling, or rebooking their personal training appointments using the Mindbody software. Deliver exceptional customer service via phone, email, and text. Address and resolve client inquiries, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. Serve as first point of contact for visitors to the studio. Conduct brief studio tours for prospective clients. Sales Support Manage and oversee client accounts, including processing sales, collecting payments, updating membership information, and ensuring credit card details are current and memberships are active. Confidently promote our Intro Offer and walk potential clients through the steps of purchasing and scheduling their Intro. Walk new clients through the sign-up process and sell contracts via our POS system. Engage with potential clients to encourage studio membership sign-ups. Inform existing clients about upgrades and promotional offers to enhance their experience. Operational Support Restock studio supplies, including food/drink, office supplies, and merchandise. Regularly wipe down machines, tidy the studio space, and clean common areas. Assist in quarterly database maintenance and file cleanup. Perform Body Composition Analysis tests and explain the resulting report to clients. (Will be trained on our equipment and protocols.) Perform CAROL Bike demos for clients and assist in onboarding. (Will be trained on our equipment and protocols.) Marketing Support Use tools such as Canva to create promotional materials such as flyers, presentations, or social media graphics. Occasionally (approx. 1-3 times per year), attend offsite events to promote the studio.
