Job Description

MEI is a research and development defense contracting company known for its expertise in producing advanced integrated systems. With a dedicated team of skilled professionals, including electrical, mechanical, software, and chemical engineers, MEI specializes in crafting highly specialized solutions for NASA and the Department of Defense. While the company's history has been rooted in the development of cutting-edge chemical sensing systems, its core strength lies in delivering custom integrated systems that meet complex operational needs. MEI is seeking a motivated, entry level Administrative and Lab Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to administrative company functions and do some technician work. Training will be provided for all job aspects, no previous experience necessary. This position offers significant opportunities for growth, with the potential to take on more responsibilities and advance within the company as you develop your skills and expertise,
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily front office operations, ensuring efficient workflows and a clean and organized environment Manage administrative functions including scheduling, communications, filing, data entry, and coordination of meetings, visitors, and events Support purchasing and vendor coordination, including receiving materials, verifying invoices, and maintaining supply inventory Assist HR and Quality teams with onboarding, documentation control, record retention, and data entry Maintain office and lab inventory, including kitting parts and tracking materials for traceability Assemble, modify, and rework electronic assemblies (PCBs, cable harnesses, electromechanical systems) to engineering and IPC standards Perform soldering, cable/wiring integration, and support system and subsystem testing activities (training to be provided) Conduct inspections and functional tests to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications Complete manufacturing and QA documentation and perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting Help maintain lab organization and assist with lab maintenance tasks
Required Qualifications:
Strong willingness and ability to learn Extraordinarily detail orientated Strong fine motor skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively Excellent communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general office software Experience with office management systems (e.g., phone systems, scheduling software) is a plus Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience with
ISO 9001
2015 standards Knowledge of basic HR functions, such as employee onboarding, is beneficial Familiarity with inventory management systems Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Pay:
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour
