00 P.M. ONLY. To perform a wide variety of general clerical duties and responsibilities in support of an assigned office or school site.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the full journey level class within the Administrative Clerk series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Administrative Clerk I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level, or when filled from the outside require prior related work experience.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Received general supervision from higher level staff. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Type a wide variety of documents including letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, handbooks, questionnaires, requisitions, contracts, and other materials from marginal notes, rough drafts, or verbal instruction. Serve as receptionist to students, teachers, District employees, and the general public; answer inquiries and furnish information requiring a knowledge of basic school standards, procedures, rules, regulations, programs, and policies. Apply District policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, records, and reports; provide information and forms to District employees, students, teachers and the general public; collect and process appropriate information. Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of information, researching discrepancies and recording information, maintain and post data relating to attendance, cumulative students records and other specialized records. Register new students; obtain necessary documents and forms; input information into a computer; provide information to students and parents. Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence. Issue absence and tardy slips; prepare and clear daily absence lists; verify excuses and authenticity of absences. Receive and reply to oral and written requests for information. Assist in other areas at times of reduced office staff or peak periods including in the areas of school clerical and health assistance. Operate standard office machines including typewriters, photocopiers, duplicating machines, telephones, postage machines, and calculators. Perform related duties as assigned. Two years of general clerical experience, preferably in a school/District office setting.Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Typing Requirement 45 net words per minute A typing test will be administered to verify typing speed. Examination The examination components consist of a qualifying written multiple-choice exam, skills performance exam, and structured oral interview. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and notified via email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. Week of April 1, 2026 (subject to change as needed) After the exam procedure concludes for this recruitment, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies. When eligibility lists include open and promotional lists of qualified persons through competitive examination, the promotional list will be used first, unless otherwise stated on this bulletin.Work Schedule:
This position typically works full-time, eight (8) hours/day, 40-hour work week, and observes a 12-month work calendar. Salary and Benefits The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate five-step salary schedule for this position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule. The District provides and contributes to a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, term life insurance) per contract year for each employee and eligible dependents. Holidays and Leaves Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employees Association Chapter 296 (CSEA). Individuals employed five (5) days a week for a fiscal year of service shall be granted twelve (12) days leave of absence for illness or injury, exclusive of all days not required to render service to the District. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period. Physical Demands The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands: sitting for extended periods; some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, squatting, reaching, and twisting at waist; sitting for extended periods; hand and finger dexterity for keyboarding/typing, use of computer mouse and touchpad, and writing instruments; vision and hearing in normal range with or without correction. Work Environment Indoor office setting. Some exposure to temperature changes in climate-controlled environments and inclement weather when visiting adjacent offices/buildings; exposure to fragrances, cleaning and sanitizing agents, office noise (i.e. telephones, standard office equipment, computers, office personnel). ______________________________EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
