Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Personal Assistant/Aide to support a minimally speaking young woman with diverse needs in accessing various inclusive activities in the community. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with family, friends, staff and others in the community to help her engage in community settings and achieve her full potential. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, compassion, and a proactive approach to ensuring personalized attention and the necessary assistance for her to thrive socially. Duties Provide her direct support by assisting with access to the community i.e.; riding paratransit or Smart train, getting her nails done, roller skating, movies, music events, rebounders, gym, biking, etc. and planning other outings of interest to her. Support her by offering physical assistance and implement calming techniques when anxiety arises Learn, understand, and become aware of spelling communication methodologies as well as other augmentative communication Collaborate closely with her team of professionals—occupational therapists, communication parners, vison therapist, motor planning coaches, etc—to learn about ways to incorporate and utilize skills she is working on.. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while documenting progress and behavioral observations accurately. Skills Must be female and at least 18 years of age with a drivers license.. Must have (or be willing to get) First Aide and CPR certifications. Strong knowledge of and or experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders. Must be fun and engaging and able to help her establish relationships in the community. Familiarity with developmental disabilities is essential. Compassionate caregiver capable of providing physical assistance when necessary while maintaining a safe environment. Join us in making a meaningful difference in the life of a lovely young woman. Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 4.0 - 8.0 per week
